California settled a toxic dumping suit with Kmart and is now suing Target (San Francisco Business Times).
Kmart, which is owned by Sears, will pay $8.65 million in civil penalties, legal costs and money to boost protection of the environment in California.
Target, meanwhile, is being sued for sending hazardous waste to various landfills in violation of state law.
