Grand Rapids Starbucks Union and Seville, Spain CNT have announced a global day against Starbucks in light of recent union busting.

Home Depot has just fired 950 call center workers just in time for the holidays. Shame on Home Depot CEO Frank Blake for leaving these workers and their families out in the cold. (Reuters)

A Home Depot employee has done an important public service by authoring an open letter to CEO Blake which includes some details underlying the firings which Home Depot didn't want you or the press to know:

• Home Depot paid no severance pay

• The downsized jobs, at least to some extent, are being outsourced to Convergys

• Convergys will be on-site at Home Depot call centers accepting applications for the same position at wages some 30-40% lower
